Almost Famous- 'Penny Lane' is in my ears and in my eyes

Another of my favourite films is Almost Famous. For those of you who haven't seen it i really reccommend. It's about a 15 year old boy called William who wants to be a music reporter. To get an interview for Rolling Stone Magazine, and to escape his over protective mother, he rebels and goes on tour with the rock band- Still Water. This film is fun and charming, yet thought provoking and definitely has the best fashion inspiration i think i've ever seen in a movie.

Again, i think the reason i love it so much is partly because of the female lead and partly because of the attention to design. There's just so much detail to take in and it all looks so authentic. Kate Hudson has successfully made Penny Lane into one of the most influential characters in my life. Her style is incredible and with the current 70s fashion trend going on at the moment it is a great time to copy her. Last year i finally went to Morocco, which i've always wanted to do since Penny Lane wanted to. I mean, if she wanted to go there it has to be a great place, right. I wasn't disappointed. For years i had long blonde hair dreaming that i may look like her, but alas it didn't at all so i cut it all off and dyed it brown.

It would be an absolute dream for me to design the costumes for a character like Penny Lane. Scouring the vintage stores look for beautiful, embroidered, 70s, items. In particular the boots in the photo below are my absolute favourite.

Also, watch out for appearances from some other young, extremely stylish and inspiring actresses such as, one of my favs, Zooey Deschanel...

Fairuza Balk...

and Anna Paquin...

And for the men... what can i say... i think all men should dress this way for at least some point in their life...
