I'm guessing many of you have never heard the name Edith Head, but undoubtedly you will be familiar with her work. She is one of the most prolific costume designers ever and and responsible for dressing so many of Hollywood's biggest stars in their most iconic outfits. She designed costumes for over 1000 films, had a career at Paramount spanning 44 years and came away with 35 Academy award nominations. To name a few she designed for Veronica Lake, Grace Kelly, Ginger Rogers, Audrey Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, Elizabeth Taylor, Doris Day, Natalie Wood, Sophia Loren and Katherine Hepburn. Safe to say that she is one of the biggest inspirations to me as a costume designer.
